Couple’s Therapy

Miro Psychology specialises in offering support to couples who may be experiencing difficulties in their communication and connection.

Couples counselling involves a structured and thorough assessment process around the history of the relationship, current concerns and challenges, as well as interviews with each partner to understand their individual perspectives. Treatment sessions offer a supportive and collaborative space to learn more adaptive modes of communication, to heal from past ruptures, and to foster an improved sense of attunement to one another. Therapy is provided utilising the Gottman Method, a structured and evidence-based model of treatment based on four decades of research. Your therapy may also include elements of Emotion Focused Therapy and Schema Therapy.

Some of challenges we can provide help for are:

  • Patterns of high conflict or difficulty communicating

  • Loss of connection or closeness

  • Sense of loneliness or isolation in the relationship

  • Difficulties navigating differences in goals or values

  • Infidelity and loss of trust

  • Periods of significant change or adjustment such as parenthood or loss

  • Difficulty navigating challenges presented by neurodiversity in one or both partners

  • A desire to protect the current quality of the relationship by working on your connection and communication
